I can’t recommend Nicky Nock highly enough as a Personal Trainer.  Nicky is inspirational.

I have been exercising regularly at a number of gyms for the past twenty odd years.  Trainers come and go, some better than others, but when I first met Nicky she came across as someone very different.  I observed her training someone else for a few weeks, listening to the encouraging way she persuaded them to try new moves.  I saw the difference her training made to this particular client and decided that now was the time for me to ask her to help me in the same way.

Within the first couple of months of Personal Training the pounds fell off and fat turned to muscle.  The arthritis that had started to develop in my fingers and toes and had become quite painful started to subside and my joints have become supple again.  I would never have believed that at the age of 59, I would ever be able to do a ‘spinning class’, however, Nicky quietly encouraged and persuaded and now her ‘spinning classes’ are the highlight of my week and with the Personal Training have certainly improved my fitness.  I have more energy, feel happier and more confident.

Nicky has a quiet and encouraging personality and a wonderful sense of humour.  She cares about every one of her clients individually, taking into account their body strengths and weaknesses and writes them programmes to suit their particular needs.  She has a wonderful personality and can easily mix with people of all ages.  She gives as much care and attention to the over 60’s as she does to the under 30’s and makes every client she comes in contact with feel very special.

I have now been training with Nicky for eight months and have reduced two dress sizes.  I am now a very trim size 12, with which I am delighted.

I never thought I would enjoy training as much as I have with Gareth! Gareth is an excellent personal trainer, his Pilates and nutrition knowledge is amazing.  He has really helped me re-train in my way of thinking from low fat to good fat and how to activate the right muscles to really make the exercise’s work. Gareth understood my goals and I am much more mindful of everything i do now, it has certainly started to work, im nearly where i want to be.  I do some of the classes with both Nicky and Gareth and they are very motivating, keep it interesting and varied. Gareth has been my personal trainer for well over 9 months now. My overall goal was to improve my fitness and shape and feel more positive about my body image. Gareth has made it so simple for me to not only achieve my goal but also maintain a shape that I never thought I would be able to. I have fluctuated with my weight for the last 10 years and this is the first time I have felt truly in control of my body shape. His workouts are fun and motivational, his advice is priceless and he treats me as an individual – designing programmes for me that I enjoy.

His strengths lie in; listening to what it was I wanted to aim for and setting manageable goals, understanding what motivates me to get a higher level of performance and reviewing regularly enough to keep me engaged and positive.

I have always kept fit, but now my level of fitness is outstanding. I get comments all the time on how trim I look. I fit in clothes that have not been worn for years, I have energy, feel great and rarely get sick due to the changes of my diet. I can still have naughty treats but don’t crave bad foods like I did.  I’ve never had to go hungry, in fact I now eat more!  He’s helped me achieve so much more than just a figure I am pleased with and I’ve enjoyed each step of the journey.

I have been incredibly impressed with my personal training sessions with Gareth thus far. He is overall a very dynamic and well-rounded personal trainer. I have a very unique personal training goal that is unlike most individuals that hire personal trainers. I am a Elite dragon boat athlete and was training for an international competition in China when I was side-lined by a back injury that made it impossible for me to continue my training program. I received physiotherapy, massage therapy and eventually underwent some medical treatments to improve my condition. Realizing I only had finite time to heal, get my conditioning back up to speed and train for the competition, I decided to hire a personal trainer. My goal was to make it to the international competition in top shape and injury free. This is when Gareth stepped in.

Gareth has designed a unique pilates and core stability program that has worked perfectly for my needs and goals. Gareth is extremely knowledgeable and is always willing to research new information on my condition and to enhance my overall program. He never fails to impress me on what he knows about the human body and general fitness and training. He is also great at ensuring that the skills I am learning in my program are transferable to my paddling. And, this is the crux of any training program!

Gareth is a motivator. He gives you the boost you need on those days when you are low. He pushes you to achieve a higher level when he sees the potential. He quickly adapts the program once you have achieved a skill.

Gareth is very perceptive. He is able to pick up the slightest of things and adjust the skill I am learning to ensure it is properly completed. My overall body awareness has improved dramatically since training with Gareth. I feel confident in my ability to set myself up for an exercise and complete it without his guidance. What I have achieved in my short time with Gareth is amazing. I am so much stronger, flexible, aware and most importantly, injury free. And, I still have more sessions to go!

When someone in the gym or community asks me about hiring a good personal trainer, I can say with the utmost confidence that Gareth is a beyond an excellent personal trainer who goes way beyond his call of duty to ensure that his clients achieve the results and goals they have set for themselves.

I first met Gareth in June 2009 when I took a group class he was leading. I really admired and enjoyed his high energy, enthusiasm and funny sense of humour during this and subsequent class experiences! My goals were simple, I wanted to watch my diet, lose weight, have better tone and a greater sense of confidence. I had not been to a gym for the past twenty-five years and although determined, I knew very little about working out. That is when I turned to a personal trainer to help me.

This is when I was introduced to Nicky, my personal trainer. From the very start, I felt a connection with Nicky. I was comfortable and relaxed. During our first visit, we discussed and reviewed my eating habits and she recommended a better diet. Proper nutrition and increased levels of hydration. As well, a training and cardio programme was set up and we agreed to meet two to three times a week for an hour.

Nicky is a great motivator, has good communication skill and able to get the best out of you. She is always positive, gives encouragement and pushes enough to get results. Our sessions are hard and after only two months I am noticing improvement. I have a greater level of energy, lost inches off my waistline, lost weight and gained muscle. She stresses nutrition and I now have better eating habits. Nicky had helped my tremendously and these results would not be possible without her.

Nicky has made my visits to the gym enjoyable and I always look forward to our next session. Thanks to Nicky, my experience with a personal trainer has been nothing but positive.

Okay, so, let’s just get it out there. There’s a very good chance that you’ll have a love-hate relationship when you train with Gareth. There is going to be a point when you’re partway through a set of lunges or push ups or plank-ups (you’ll know them when you meet them) that you’re going to say something pretty mean. And Gareth will just grin and tell you to finish your set. I’m pretty sure he’s heard it before and probably much worse.

But here’s the beauty of it all. You WILL finish that set. Gareth won’t let you give up. And you’ll be able to walk away with the pride and satisfaction of knowing that he’s helped you to push yourself to a level you wouldn’t have gone to on your own. And that’s where the love comes in. As you see your fitness improve and as you achieve your goals, you’ll look back on those exhausting sessions with a smile.

He is constantly checking up on nutrition and your exercise outside of his training sessions. He’ll offer advice and guidance even if you think your question or concern is ridiculous. Whatever fitness level you’re at, Gareth can guide you and tailor an incredible plan to suit your needs.

More of a lifestyle coach than a personal trainer, Gareth Nock has helped me to change my life for the better.

When I first started my training, I thought I knew what I wanted – to lose some weight, look and feel good.   My biggest physical challenge was my job.  Years of sitting slumped over a desk and standing with bad posture had left me with muscles that didn’t know how to work anymore.  My butt was starting to fill in the seat of my desk chair, I was suffering from chronic headaches, and a few minutes of standing left me with sore knees.  Gareth helped me to rewire my body and get me moving like my body wasn’t use to… and at first, it didn’t want to.  As my heart pounded in my chest and my muscles ached to the point of exhaustion, I frequently asked myself – Am I seriously paying for this torture?

It’s always easy to blame lack of fitness on external factors – work, school, family, and other obligations.  I needed to take full responsibility for who I was and how I let myself get there. Months passed and I slowly stopped asking – How many more?  Instead I was pushing myself and becoming more confidant on my own.

Gareth helped me understand a lot of things:

  • That only I have control over my body and my actions.  You can’t blame things on anyone else.
  • - That there is always a little time in the day to go for a walk, or prep a quick and healthy meal.  Be prepared for the busy days and you won’t catch yourself falling into old bad habits.
  • - You need to be patient with your body and listen to it’s signals:  when you need to rest, stretch, get a massage, and cry.
  • -  If you want to be healthy you need to change your lifestyle.
  • -  The best change is slow and constant if you want it to remain.  Repetition, repetition, repetition.
  • -  Everyone can have a ‘cheat day’, as long as you practice self control.  A few cookies are fine… as long as it doesn’t turn into a whole bag.

Gareth Nock is an incredible trainer, coach and mentor.  Anyone would be fortunate to have him take them on as a client.  He is an absolute professional that has dedicated his life to helping others discover a healthy, active lifestyle.  If you are ready to make a change, he will help you make a difference.
